Things you should not miss when in Machu Picchu

Machu Picchu is a place which should be visited by every traveler. Not so famous place, but yet again a traveler travels for fun and on unexplored paths. Machu Picchu is somewhere in Peru. And after knowing what it has to offer you most certainly should explore this place. Go ahead, add it to you bucket list.

Machu Picchu is probably a place where you need no specific time to visit. I guess, it is the only place where you can visit any time of the year. But yes, you must have heard a lot that Machu Picchu is closed down in February or that February is not a good time to be in Machu Piscchu because of the rains. Yes that is true. There is no denying to that fact. But only you cannot trek during the rains. But you can still explore other places by public means of transportation or rental cars. And if you really, really, really want to avoid crowd, then you should visit this Peruvian region in the month of February.

Machu Picchu is amazingly great place to visit. If you head out of the bus depot at Aguas Calientes, then you will be lucky enough to even visit the Huayna Picchu. This is a small peak near Machu Picchu. And the view of the Urumbamba river is just magnificent. Like any other place Machu Picchu also has some history and stocks up its history well. Museo de Sitio Manuel Chavez Ballon museum is famous for the its dynamic collection on the artifacts of the archaeological excavation of Machu Picchu. All you have to do is pay $8 as entry fee and get engrossed in the historical world. The museum is nothing fancy. It is just a 30 minute walk from Aguas Calientes.

A little further if you go from Huayba Picchu, walk to the Temple of Moon. You will find it at the far side of the peak. This place in created in a cave with stonework. Rumor has it that, centuries back, mummies were kept here. Well, its just a rumor. You have to be there to see it. And just for the knowledge of all the movie lovers, the movie Robot’s song Kilimanjaro, starting Rajnikat, was filmed here. So do make sure to visit this place at least once.
