The Island Of Dolls- Mexico
Isla De Las Munecas is one of the many man made islands, surrounded by canals to the south of Mexico city. Apart from being famous for the various demonic spirits that haunt this island, there is something else creepier here. The island is covered in more than thousands of dolls, but not the adorable kind. One would find severed limbs, body parts and heads of a number of dolls being strewn around the entire island, a number of which hang from trees. It is said that these dolls were placed like this by a person who lived there to appease the spirit of a young girl. Even more creepier is the fact that this person’s body was found in the exact spot in the canal where the young girl’s was found!
Fort George, Citadel- Nova Scotia, Canada
This fort is situated on top of Citadel Hill in the town of Halifax in Canada and is very popular as a haunted historic site. The unique star shaped complex of this fort adds beauty to its vintage architecture but hair-rising spooky things loom underneath. Many tourists on ghost walking tours have had experiences of a little girl’s spirit holding their hand through the tours. Among the disembodied voices, knocks, bangs and mists, there have been sightings of a uniformed guard disappearing in prison cells, a red cloaked man, a woman and an old lady in mirrors to name a few.
House of Faces- Bélmez, Spain
It was in 1971 when this house began to receive its reputation of being the eeriest kind, of the highest order. The owners claimed to see a face appearing on the concrete floor; after the floor was changed the face appeared again on the new concrete. This continued over the decades with faces randomly appearing and vanishing. Some skeptics say its a hoax and some believe these faces to be psychic manifestations of the original owner’s brain. Fake or not, this house is definitely worth a visit.
Bhangarh Fort, Alwar District- Rajasthan, India
There was once a sorcerer, who fell in love with the beautiful princess of Bhangarh fort. His romantic overtures were rejected by the princess and ultimately led to his death. While breathing his last, he cursed that this place would fall into ruins and that is exactly what followed. Today this place is termed as a confirmed haunted site by The Archaeological Survey Of India. With blood curdling cries and the piercing noises of broken bangles, visitors are highly discouraged by locals to entire this site after sunset.
Overtoun Bridge – West Dunbartonshire, Scotland
This bridge lies about 50 feet over a waterfall and has been infamous for several suicides over the past years. What’s alarming is the fact that most of these have been canine suicides. There is something eerie in the atmosphere there that drives the dogs to take a plunge into the deep chasm of the river. There are also tales of a man throwing his child over the bridge, claiming it to be an incarnation of the devil himself and then falling to his own death. This place becomes a great eerie spot to visit with the utmost caution.
